Cameroonian youths joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Youth Day on August 12 2015

The national youth council led the Cameroonian youths as they joined their counterparts around the world to commemorate the 16th edition of the International Youth Day at the municipal circle hall of the hotel de ville.

This day that was under the patronage of the ministry of youths and civic education, had the theme; Youth and Civic Education. According to a message read by the representative of the Director General of the UNESCO, this year’s theme was chosen because it has been realized that the youths have an uncontestable role to play as far as the construction of social unity is concerned. “As such, emphasizing on their civic duties is a constructive way to tap into their diverse potentials” she says. She aded that; being identified as indispensable actors of the society, youths should no longer be perceived as being one of the most vulnerable groups of the society.

In the same vein, the Minister of Youth and Civic Education added that this year’s theme in question is timely with regards to the diverse insecurity issues plaguing the world today. As such he called on the youths to be conscious of their civic duties while collaborating with the government, the civil society, cultural and religious organs in the fight against terrorism alongside other insecurity issues. In response to the call for support of the President of the National Youth Council, the minister made an engagement to encourage and promote the efforts of the youths in the light of promoting national unity and development.
